 Going for Gold

Bruce is considered to be the world's greatest ultra marathon runner. He ran his first Comrades Marathon in 1977 and has since won the Comrades eight times in succession, missing out in 1989 to run the Standard Bank 100km Ultra. He returned to Comrades to win again in 1990.

He currently holds the records for both the up and down runs. He is also the world record holder for the 50 mile which he set in 1993 while running the London to Brighton, as well as the US 50 mile All Comers record.

Bruce is also the author of the best seller "Comrades" and is columnist for the Sunday Independent and The Star and for the Rand Daily Mail, before it closed.

He is also the Executive Director of the South African Sports Trust, and is involved in endorsements and charity work. He is Trustee of Ithuba, Patron of the Cystic Fibrosis Association and Honory President of Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Over and above all of this, his motivational talks to businesses, schools and sports clubs are always in demand. He also excels at performing the duties of celebrity MC.
