Zaa Nkweta

Zaa Nkweta joined Carte Blanche in 2000 as a presenter and field reporter on both Carte Blanche Africa and the South African version of the programme. Besides his television work, Zaa is also an accomplished stage actor.

Zaa was born in England, and raised in Canada to parents of Cameroonian descent. He first appeared onstage at the age of six, and continued his stage career throughout his schooling. In 1990, while studying for his BA in Film & Communications, at McGill University, Zaa was recruited into The National Theatre School of Canada.

His roles to that date included lead roles in Equus, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Miracle on 34th Street, The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, Plague of Innocence, One Tiger to a Hill and Agnes of God. Zaa moved to South Africa in 1996 enrolling in a postgraduate Journalism diploma at Rhodes University. While there, he produced a video on Nelson Mandela.

After graduation Zaa moved to Cape Town and performed in several international television productions such as The Professionals, The Adventures of Sinbad, Diamond Girl and Cape of Good Hope III. He moved to Johannesburg after landing the role of David in SABC2's 37 Honey St.

A talented voice-over artist who dubs Soul City into French for Pan African release, he is also the station ID voice for Metro FM. Zaa also presented Between the Lines for ETV - the only literary television programme in South Africa. The Show received an Avanti award in 2000

Over the last year Zaa has extended his feature film career with roles in Micheal Mann's "Ali" starring Will Smith, Angelina Jolie's "Beyond Borders" and "Borderline" with Gina Gershon and Sean Patrick Flannery.
