Basetsane Kumalo

Basetsana completed her education at Trinity Secondary School . She received the Best Science Student award and the status of Head Prefect. Her television career began in 1990 as a presenter. In 1994 she was crowned Miss South Africa and in the same year also became runner up in the Miss World Pageant. During her reign as Miss South Africa , she was approached by well known magazine programme,Top Billing to be one of their female anchor presenters.

The show focuses on fashion, travel, lifestyles of the rich and famous, movies and music. In 1999 she was nominated by Femina Magazine as one of the Top Ten Most Glamorous Women in South Africa . She has since been nominated for the Woman of The Year Award by Shoprite/Checkers/SABC 3 in the category: Media and communication. `Bassie`, as we affectionately know her as, went on to launch her own clothing range under the label `Stature Ladieswear by Bassie` and married Romeo Kumalo, the General Manager of Metro FM Station.

Over the years Bassie has graced the covers of numerous glossy South African Magazine including Cosmopolitan, Drum, Tribute, Ebony, True Love, Bona, Fairlady (the first black woman on the cover),to name a few, whilst her television career has given her the opportunities to interview the likes of Nelson Mandela, Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Elizabeth Hurley, The Bee Gees, The Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Sting, Samuel L Jackson, Sol Kerzner, Naomi Campbell and Richard Branson amongst others.
