Dr Gericke received his Phd from the University of Stellenbosch.

He was born in the Western Cape in a small town called Worcester. He has been involved in and with competitive sports, either on the track or field or from the comfort of his office for more than 2 decades.

In the early 1980's he broke the 4 minute mile on 10 occasions and was considered a potential medal hopeful at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. However, he was unable to compete due to the international isolation of South Africa

Dr Gericke has helped teams such as The Pumas, The Blue Bulls and the Sharks rugby teams reach their maximum potential and was asked to join the South African Rugby Union in 2004 as the Team Sport Psychologist.

Jake White was the first Springbok coach to employ a full time Sports Psychologist for the Springboks in the form of Dr Henning Gericke.

“Having known, worked with, and learnt from Henning in the last few years, I have seldom met anyone who has finer distinctions and instincts around team dynamics, a critical component when moulding distinctly provincial players into a new national team.” Jake White

After years of hard work and dedication, the pinnacle of his career was probably reached in 2007 when Dr Gericke, Jake White and the boys brought home the Webb Ellis trophy from the Rugby World Cup in France.

Dr Gericke provides a well-rounded talk about his achievements with the Springboks as well as many others ideas that focus on Sports psychology that can be used in the corporate world.
