Mamikie was born and brought up in Soweto and received her High School Matric at lnkomazi High School (Mpumalanga). After numerous attempts to obtain entry into a South African University, Mamikie moved to the United States where she hoped to win a scholarship from the United Nations. Unfortunately, she was not successful. Mamikie was born and brought up in Soweto and received her High School Matric at lnkomazi High School (Mpumalanga). After numerous attempts to obtain entry into a South African University, Mamikie moved to the United States where she hoped to win a scholarship from the United Nations. Unfortunately, she was not successful. From 1983 to 1986 Mamikie struggled to make a living through a number of jobs. She was a domestic worker, baby sitter and cake decorator. In 1986, at the encouragement of her husband David Molapo whom she had met in the US and married, she tried for the United Nations scholarship once again, and was successful. Mamikie studied at A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama where she completed her BSc degree in Human Development & Resource Management. She then obtained her Masters of Science in Home Economics in one year although it was a two year programme. Mamikie is a recognised expert in the field of women and children issues and serves as a board member on the "I CAN FOUNDATION", The South African Student Christian Association and she had her own talk show "Thari" on SABC2 which was produced by her company Naledi Productions of which she is the Executive Director. She hosted a programme on Radio BOP on motivation and self-fulfilment and has also been a guest on numerous television shows. Mamikie is a mother of two and headed up Katanga Property Care (Pty) Ltd and Katanga Parking Services (Pty) Ltd as the Managing Director. She was also a director on the board of Katanga IT (Pty) Ltd. At conferences and seminars she speaks on self-awareness, empowerment and reaching ones full potential. Mamikie's presentations have been described as "motivational". "inspirational" and "enlightening". She is currently finishing her PHD in Women studies and heads Basadi Property Management (Pty) Ltd and I Can Communications. |
